Q1: When I launch my browser I keep getting ‘Page cannot be displayed
A1: This can be for a number of reasons, the most common of which are listed below.
1. Ensure your internet home page is set to a resolvable URL and not an intranet, or internal company website site.
2. In main Internet Tool Bar, select “Tools” then “Internet Options”
3. Set home page to a resolvable URL e.g. http://www.google.co.uk or similar.
4. Click “Apply” then “OK”, close window and re-launch browser.
Or
5. Launch your internet browser. In main tool bar, go to “File” and ensure that “Work Offline” is not checked.
Or
6. In main Internet Tool Bar, select “Tools” then “Internet Options”.
7. Select “Connections”.
8. Ensure “Never Dial a Connection” is checked.
9. Select “LAN Settings” and check “Automatically Detect Settings”
10. Uncheck “use automatic configuration script” if in use.
11. Uncheck “use proxy server” if in use.
12. Click “OK”, close open windows and re-launch browser
N.B. Items 8, 10 and 11 can be returned to their original status after Liberty-izone session has ended.

Q2: Connecting with Windows Vista
A2: 1. Click on “Start”.
2. Select “Network”.
3. Select “Network and Sharing Centre”.
4. On the left of that menu click “Connect to a Network”.
5. “Liberty-i”, or venue SSID will be visible in the menu. Highlight this and click “Connect”.
6. Once connected open your internet browser and you will be automatically redirected to the venue portal page where you will set up your login credentials.

Q3: I cannot see the Liberty-i Network
A3: 1. Hardware Switch – This is normally located on the base of the laptop, or around the keyboard and will have to be physically turned on to enable your Wi-Fi card to pick up the wireless signal.

2. Software Switch – This is will enable/disable your internal wireless client adapter using hot-key commands, e.g. “Fn+F1”.

Q4: When I launch my Internet browser it keeps looking for a dial-up connection.
A4: This may be due to your web browser being set to “Always dial my default connection”.
To ensure that you web browser launches via the WLAN adapter then follow the instructions below:

1. Select your internet browser properties by right clicking on your desktop internet browser icon.

2. Select “Connection”.

3. Check “Dial whenever a network connection is not present”.

Q5: My PC or Notebook will not allow me to load new software or I require Administrator rights to load new software.
A5: Some companies enforce an IT policy that restricts the loading of unauthorised software. If you require administrator rights then you must consult with your Systems Administrator.
Alternatively you can use one of the WLAN/Ethernet converters available from reception.

Q6: PC or Notebook is not supported by the Liberty-i Wireless LAN adapter kit?
A6: This is still not a problem. You can use one of the WLAN/Ethernet converters available from reception.

1. Simply plug the WLAN/Ethernet converter in to your PC Ethernet port and connect the power via your USB port, or via the AC/DC mains converter provided.

2. Launch your internet browser and you will be automatically re-directed to the venue Portal Page.

3. Enter your Pre-paid Voucher Passkey* and follow the on screen instructions and you will instantly connect to the internet.

Q7: What is VPN?
A7: VPN stands for: Virtual Private Network.
This enables your corporate server to identify you as a valid end user and set up a secure, encrypted session, all the way across the Internet, to your PC or Notebook, known as the “client”.

Q9: I am already wireless enabled. How do I connect?
A9: If your Laptop PC, Notebook or Handheld PDA is already wireless enabled using an IEEE 802.11b or WECA / Wi-Fi approved WLAN adaptor, then you can enjoy high speed broadband Internet access by following these simple instructions.

1. Ensure you are within range of a Liberty-izone.

2. Disable WEP Key function

3. Set your WLAN “SSID” (Service Set Identifier) to Liberty-izone

4. Launch your internet browser and you will be automatically re-directed to the venue portal page.

5. Enter your Pre-paid Voucher Passkey* and follow the on screen instructions and you will instantly connect to the internet.

You have now “cut out the cable” and are connected to the high speed internet.

* N.B. Remember and keep secure your newly created user name and password for future logons.
